New support for SMEs for the green and digital transition

A new financing opportunity is opening up for Hungarian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) under the GINOP Plusz-1.4.5-25 program. Comments on the call for public consultation are welcome until March 9.

This combined loan program helps companies with technological developments, organizational renewal, green and digital transition – all in one package with a non-repayable grant and an interest-free loan. It is an excellent opportunity for SMEs striving for innovation, sustainability, and increasing their competitiveness.

What can the funding be used for?

The program aims to increase the productivity and competitiveness of Hungarian businesses. The awarded money can be used for the following:

  • technological modernization (purchase of machines, equipment, software)
  • construction, transformation, modernization of real estate
  • renewable energy sources (e.g., solar panels)
  • procurement of electric vehicles
  • digital developments and corporate infocommunications
  • research and development, innovation

How much muney can be requested?

A minimum loan application of HUF 100 million and a maximum of HUF 400 million can be expected, of which up to 30% is a non-repayable grant. The grant amount cannot exceed 15 times the operating profit of the company from the previous year.

You can expect a maximum 10-year term (depending on the type of investment), and the project must be implemented outside Budapest.

Who can apply?

The program is available for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises that:

  • have at least three closed financial years
  • employ at least 5 people
  • have an annual revenue of at least HUF 100 million
  • operate as suppliers or exporters

Which sectors are eligible to apply?

According to the call for applications, companies operating in the following sectors can participate in the program:

  • manufacturing industry (e.g., machinery, food industry, electronics industry)
  • supplier networks (SMEs supplying medium and large enterprises)
  • exporting businesses (companies entering international markets)
  • innovation and technology companies
  • companies engaged in energy efficiency and renewable energy
  • companies focusing on digital and infocommunication development
  • companies active in research and development

When can applications be submitted?

The application is expected to launch in April 2025, with a 24-month implementation period, which can be extended by 6 months if justified.Applications will be processed through the MFB Pont Plus intermediary network.
